​We have an extensive number of outside photos of the Marbold Farmstead.  However, we have very few photos of the interior of the mansion.  The following hint at what the interior was.

​This is a fortune accident.  The photographer missed the intended target of the baby but successful  documented the fireplace in the living room.

​From the Decatur Daily Review, September 9, 1959.  H.H. Marbold bought this grandfather clock from the Holland exhibit  at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair.  In 1959, it was in the possession of Otto Wernsing, who got it from Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wernsing.  It is supposed to have resided at the bottom of the mansion staircase.  

​The only photo of the original staircase.  This will be the final item restored in this part of the house.  All construction materials and personnel could damage a restored staircase.  In any case, it is stunning.
